Gianni Versace

Today would've marked Gianni Versace's 65th Birthday!  I think that deserves a celebration of his life and legend in the fashion industry...



FACTS:
✯ Gianni Versace was born in Reggio Calabria, Italy on Dec. 2, 1946.
✯ An Italian fashion designer and founder of the Italian fashion label VERSACE... the first Versace boutique opened in Milan in 1978.
✯ He studied architecture before moving to Milan at the age of 26 to work in fashion design.
✯ The Versace brand became a true household name in 1994 after the widespread coverage of the black safety pin Versace dress Elizabeth Hurley wore to a premiere.

✯ Gianni's influences were Andy Warhol, Ancient Roman, Greek art and modern abstract art.
✯ Versace's death was a tragedy...He was murdered on July 15, 1997 on the steps of his Miami Beach        mansion.  He was returning home from a walk to his local coffee shop when Andrew Cunanan shot him to death on his front steps.
