Happy Birthday Kate Moss...

When I was in high school my walls were pasted with all the covers of Vogue Magazine that I had collected every month AND Kate Moss...

Born in Britain Kate Moss was discovered at the age 14 at the JFK Airport in NYC.  In 1993, a Calvin Klein campaign became her big break into the public eye.  She and her waif-like thin figure quickly changed the fashion industry forever and became famous for coining the "heroin-chic" craze.
Today marks Kate's 38th Birthday...and the girl loves to party!!!

At the Ballet...

The nutcracker girl (source)
I have been dancing since the age of 8 years old.  I started taking ballet lessons and immediately had the bug for being on the stage, hence my career now in Theatre.  I would go to see every touring Ballet performance that came through the city I lived near, and then my Dad would take me backstage to meet the dancers and I would get all their autograph...I was so in awe of them and determined that I to would be a ballerina someday!  I never did become a ballerina but I still enjoy a good ballet class and my career in Theatre allows me to dance just as much!

On this day...in 1892....The Nutcracker ballet was first performed in Saint Petersburg, Russia.  Adapted from E.T.A Hoffmann's story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King", the ballet was put to a score by Tchaikovsky.

With famous characters such as Clara (the young girl), the Mouse King,  DrosselmeyerThe Sugar Plum Fairy, and of course The Nutcracker Prince himself, this Ballet has become a huge Christmas tradition to many people, adults and children alike.  If you have never seen The Nutcracker ballet I challenge you all to try and find a production near you and go see it for the first time this Holiday Season, it can be quite beautiful!

I loved putting together this ballet inspired post...so many wonderful fashion designs are inspired by the ballet...
